Przeklenstwo super duper czułych testow...
Z niedawno opublikowanych badan wynika, ze superczułe testy PSA moga miec znaczenie w przypadku pacjentow zwiekszonego ryzyka, tj. z dodatnimi marginesami chirurgicznymi albo z wyjsciem raka poza torebke prostaty albo guzem HG.
Progiem, ktory z najwieksza doza prawdopodobienstwa pozwala przewidziec pozniejsza wznowe biochemiczna jest, wg autorow tego retrospektywnego badania, PSA ≥ 0.03 ng/mL
Ultrasensitive PSA Useful in Advising Patients
One remaining question is whether the use of ultrasensitive prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing can be of value when deciding which men should receive radiation treatment so that extensive overtreatment can be avoided.
Kang and colleagues[1] have recently published results of a retrospective study of nearly 250 men with positive surgical margins or extracapsular or high-grade disease. They looked at ultrasensitive PSA levels to see how reliably they predicted ultimate biochemical recurrence, defined as ≥ 0.2 ng/mL. They found that a PSA ≥ 0.03 ng/mL best predicted those men who ultimately developed a biochemical recurrence.
